Welcome

In my opinion, the purpose of this webpage is to gratuitously disseminate, preserve and advance the study and research of the genealogy, history and memory of James Tillet Porter and Margaret Vincent's great family and ancestry. So far it has been the joint project of HDP, JFP and Stewart (the name of the author of each file is to be posted on it so that responsibility for it can be ascertained).

Success in any endeavor requires accurate information. Please help correct whatever deficiencies and errors you find at this website.

All contributors to this webpage are welcome whether they agree with anyone else or not. Each of us decides which information and sources are trustworthy.

It is sometimes necessary or convenient to rely upon information provided by others. No matter how accepted it has been, what you read here may not always be true. Even those who wish never to betray anyone's trust sometimes misjudge, misinterpret, make mistakes, and have only limited knowledge, time, and other resources with which to learn and act.

Please calmly voice whatever concerns about this website which you may have.Although this webpage is technically on the INTERNET, as of July 5, 1998 this webpage has been visited only by the above three, plus two other people who were informed about it by them. From my experience, it is unlikely that anyone else will find this website until it has been listed on Search Engines, so information which anyone objects to which is posted here while this website is still in its present embryonic stage will probably be removed before anyone outside our small circle sees it.

Due to other priorities and demands on him, Stewart rarely has time to touch a computer. If Stewart does not answer email or make changes to this website as quickly as hoped, it may not be because he does not wish to do so with all his heart.
